Liliaceae: Clintonia borealis L.
(bluebead lily, corn lily)

Bluebead lily occurs in the eastern half of North America in cool woods amd open slopes on mountains in Canada and as far south as Georgia in the U.S.A. Blooming time is May through July. This perennial herb grows from a rhizome and bears 2-3 shiny, broad, leathery, strap-shaped leaves with parallel venation. The greenish-yellow bell-shaped flowers with spreading tips are borne in an umbel of 2-8 drooping flowers. Each flower is composed of 3 petals and 3 sepals, 6 stamens and a single stigma composed of 3 lobes. Berries are a shiny deep blue.
