Outcrop by sea with crowberries, juniper

Occurrence of Empetrum eamesii and E. nigrum on a juniper covered slope at Chebucto Head (Dec 2-4, 2008). Empetrum eamesii occurred on the upper part of this slope together with Juniperus horizontalis; in the lower part, E. eamesii was replaced by Empetrum nigrum. Vaccinnium macrocarpon (cranberry) was also abundant in the same areas that E. nigrum was observed. J. horizontalis gives a battleship grey colour with a slight bluish tinge to the vegetation. Juniperus commune (green colored) occurred in the lowest parts (below J. horizontalis/E. nigrum/V. macrocarpon) without other species.
