Free.<br \/>\nInfo: 902-865-9238<\/p>\n<p>View <a href=\"http:\/\/sackvillerivers.ns.ca\/thursday-april-5-2018-the-natural-history-of-sandy-lake-and-environments\/\">Sackville Rivers Assocation<\/a><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/p>\n<p>DESCRIPTION<br \/>\nNearly 50 years ago, the Sandy Lake (Bedford) area was selected as one of seven unique \u201cjewels in the crown\u201d of Halifax-Dartmouth that should be protected for their ecological richness and for community education and recreation. While some pieces have been assembled in the form of the Jack Lake Regional Park (including Sandy lake Beach Park), additional lands would need to be acquired to protect the integrity of Sandy Lake and the watercourse to the Sackville River and a sweep of forest that provides a wildlife corridor at the neck of the Chebucto peninsula, north to the Sackville River and the mainland. <\/p>\n<p>In the summer and fall of 2017, David Patriquin walked and paddled this landscape to document its ecological attributes and make some water quality observations. He will take us on a tour of the landscape and discuss his major conclusions.
