Photo by Ken Adams, Nov 1, 2020<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are two distinct populations\/genetic lines of moose in Nova Scotia:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/versicolor.ca\/nstriad\/biodiversity-wildlife\/moose\/mainland-moose\/\"><strong> Mainland Moose<\/strong><\/a>; these are Eastern Moose (<\/em>Alces alces<em> subspecies <\/em>americana<em>). They are restricted to Mainland NS where they are <\/em>Endangered<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/versicolor.ca\/nstriad\/biodiversity-wildlife\/moose\/cape-breton-moose\/\"><strong>Cape Breton Moose<\/strong><\/a>; these are Northwestern Moose (<\/em>Alces alces<em> subspecies <\/em>andersoni<em>).
