There are two distinct populations\/genetic lines of moose in Nova Scotia:<\/p>\n

– the Mainland Moose<\/strong><\/a>; these are Eastern Moose (<\/em>Alces alces subspecies <\/em>americana). They are restricted to Mainland NS where they are <\/em>Endangered<\/p>\n

– the Cape Breton Moose<\/strong><\/a>; these are Northwestern Moose (<\/em>Alces alces subspecies <\/em>andersoni). They are restricted to Cape Breton Island, and are not endangered.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are controversies surrounding both of them.<\/p>\n
