OMRI (U.S.A) maintains an online, searchable Brand Name Products List. The list includes the Product name, Material, Status (Restricted or Allowed), Category, and the Manufacturer.
To be listed, suppliers must (voluntarily) submit their product for review and provide OMRI with the complete contents of the product; the products must meet all requirements of certified organic agriculture as specified in the U.S. by the National Organic Program. A number of Canadian companies have their products listed. (Our own Acadian Seaplants, based in HRM, is one of them), While all of these products would be acceptable for organic production in Canada, some are not permitted in Canada because they have not been approved by the PMRA. The products on the OMRI Brand Name List include some with botanical pesticides; they are listed with an R status.
On the Canadian side, our regional organic umbrella organization, ACORN, offers a searchable online Directory of Allowable Organic Inputs. Listings for each material include a products list with product names, and for each product the Manufacturer, whether it is PMRA registered and the PCP No. , whether it is on the OMRI Brand names List, and the country of origin. ACORN deserves Kudos for putting this database together!
