\"\"<\/a>“New Caribbean Coral Restoration Efforts” was the subject of the Caribbean Cooperation Team Network Meeting on April 8, 2024.<\/p>\n

From a notice just received:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The focus of the April Caribbean Cooperation Team (CCT) meeting was to share updates on new coral reef rescue and recovery efforts in the Caribbean with funding from the G20\u2019s new Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP). After an introduction to CORDAP, representatives described the Caribbean programs funded by CORDAP grants this year.<\/p>\n

– Upscaling and optimizing coral sexual propagation technologies for coral restoration in the Caribbean<\/em><\/p>\n

– Interventions to improve the health, growth, and survival of larvae and settlers for sexual restoration of the Mesoamerican Reef (MAR)<\/em><\/p>\n

– Giving Caribbean corals a future: SCTLD and the use of probiotics in coral restoration projects<\/em><\/p>\n

– Establishing the Global Coral Cryopreservation Network<\/em><\/p>\n

– AGRRA \/ MPAConnect Caribbean Restoration Roadmaps Initiative – expanding coral rescue and recovery in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A new series of Coral Restoration Training Courses offered this summer-fall was described. CCT partners will be able to join the AGRRA \/ MPAConnect Restoration Roadmaps participants in four open, online courses relevant to reef recovery.<\/p>\n

The instructors for these courses provided an overview of the courses which included photogrammetry, reef monitoring (re-recorded), sexual propagation of corals, asexual propagation of corals + invertebrate reef herbivores, and coral histopathology. For more information on the Coral Restoration Courses see the Restoration Road Map<\/a> website. Please\u00a0register<\/a>\u00a0for the online courses by May 6, 2024.<\/p>\n
