WRWEO celebrates Fish Habitat & International Trails Day

Once again WRWEO will celebrate aquatic habitat and international trails day. The event is from 8 am to noon. on June 6 (Saturday), 2009.

The fishing derby (an annual event for over 10 years) will be in the Woodens River Watershed immediately next to the Trails Day event at Cranberry Lake by The Bluff Wilderness Hiking Trail trailhead. Note that this is a new venue for our fishing derby.

BioBlitz in the afternoon? BioBlitz is also being held on June 6, this year taking place on the nearby Blue Mountain Birch Cove Lakes Wilderness area. See BioBlitz 2009

No fishing license is required on this day and both events are geared for families with children and designed with a contest and prizes that encourage everyone to learn about the ecological connection between land and water.

Fly casting, "catch and release", fly tieing will be taught and there will be a nature walk on The Bluff Trail led by David Patriquin, a biologist who is co-chair of WRWEO and president of the Halifax Field Naturalists.
