Canadian General Standards Board Organic Standard

A voluntary national minimum standard for organic producton and marketing was developed by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) in consultation with the national community of organic producers, retailers and others. This CGSB Organic Standard was published in 1999. In regard to Permissible Materials, it takes into account OMRI assessments, and PMRA regulations.

Compliance with the standard is voluntary. However, there is a plan to implement a mandatory National Standard as in the U.S. (and the the U.K and a number of other countries). See:
