Please provide input to the N.S. Government by June 30th, 2010, on the development of a Sustainable Coastal Development Strategy

Wildlife and Nova Scotians alike value the Nova Scotian coast, but it is being altered and made less accessible at an alarming rate. It's important to register your concern and priorities with the N.S. Government which is reviewing the status of our coasts and developing new policies for coastal protection and development.

On Dec. 9, 2009, the N.S. Government released The State of Nova Scotia's Coast Report "The report looks, in detail, at six priority issues: sea-level rise and storm events, public coastal access, working waterfronts, coastal water quality, coastal ecosystems and habitats, and coastal development. "

During May 2010, open houses were held to publicize the report and get feedback as it develops a Sustainable Coastal Development Strategy, expected in December of 2010.

The deadline for submission of comments is June 30, 2010. Extended to July 18th

Fill out an online Feedback Form/questionnaire and/or submit comments separately by mail or e-mail.

For some constructive commentary on this process and the issues see EAC Coastal Issues Committee documents:
